World-renowned sculptor Patrick Dougherty spent 17 days in the month of February creating a one-of-a-kind sculpture. Hundreds of willow branches have been transformed into a magnificent large-scale sculpture at Desert Botanical Garden. Inspired by the beauty of the desert and the appropriate form of the Barrel Cactus, and with the help of over 100 Garden volunteers, Patrick constructed this moving sculpture to blend beautifully in the spectacular setting. The finished work of art, Childhood Dreams, is located on the Harriet K. Maxwell Desert Wildflower Trail.
The installation will be on view until May 2008
