Bob Emser : Spirit of Space

Spirit of Space, a steel and aluminum sculpture by Bob Emser of Eureka, Illinois, was added to the Art Spaces Collection in December 2007. It is also included in the permanent collection of the Swope Art Museum.
Emser has exhibited his work extensively throughout the United States as well as in many other countries including Norway, Argentina, Australia, Italy, France and West Germany. His work is included in collections of the Elmhurst Art Museum, the Lakeview Museum and the Mitchell Museum in Illinois. He is also President of Chicago Sculpture International. He is currently devoting his efforts full-time to sculptures for public and private spaces and recently completed an outdoor sculpture for the Dennos Museum at Northwest Michigan College in Traverse City, Michigan.

Spirit of Space has been made possible through the generosity of Duke Energy Foundation, the Sheldon Swope Art Museum Collections Fund, the Swope Alliance as well as donations from individuals and businesses.

The dedication of Spirit of Space took place December 7, 2007 at the Swope Art Museum.
